That these guys were able to push 275lbs in the middle of all that other shit they were doing was one of the most amazing feats of human physical capability i've ever seen. COuple years ago the championship WOD at nationals was this ridiculous lap running followed by pullups and then PP's with like 275 or or more on the bar. So when you see alot of these guys with these sick individual lifts.they're doing that with their heart rates significantly more elevated than in standard lifting comps. They don't sit around for 5-6 minutes in between sets. These guys develop strength when their hearts at pinging away at 180+ bpm.

Overall these guys are way better athletes than the specializers you were talking about. SmartWOD says that the goal of the app is to make it easier for you to start working out and stick with it by providing all of the tools you need to have a fun and effective workout.
